Lying in the northwest region of India, the state of Punjab, a vibrant and culturally diverse land that offers heritage, a bounty of nature, and an array of experiences to enthral every traveller. Punjab is bordered by Pakistan’s Punjab province on the west, Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Himachal Pradesh on the northeast, and Haryana and Rajasthan on the south. A belt of undulating hills extends along the northeastern part of the state at the foot of the Himalayas. Punjab lies in the Indus River Basin. Of the five Punjab rivers, three — Sutlej, Beas and Ravi — flow through the Indian state and empty into the Indus River in Pakistan. The Sutlej and Ravi define parts of the international border with Pakistan.
